Uccello Kettle & Tipper
THE ITEM CODE: K102On theitem.tv, the safety of vulnerable people and the ability to promote independence is of paramount importance when understanding the organisations that we wish to work with. The Uccello Kettle and Tipper was an absolute must have item for this channel and top of our wish list to present to you. Scolding and burn injuries are a huge issue for people in their own homes, indeed it has been recorded that over 30,000 scolds occur each year through kettles and spilled cups of hot drinks. It is therefore a real challenge to families as they support people in their own homes or have a parent or loved one living on their own. This kettle and tipper makes complete sense and is ideal for anyone who may struggle to lift loads due to arthritis, neuropathy, muscle decline or other injuries. The kettle is light and therefor can be handled simply although can also be filled whilst in the tipper (stand). It is ergonomically designed to be able to tip the water into the cup in such a simple manoeuvre that injury risks are reduced to an acceptable low level. The kettle has the normal features that we would expect from a high quality item such as: filling window so you never over fill and know how much water is contained, simple on off switch when water is at temperature, an internal cut off just incase we do not fill enough, large hinge lid for ease of use and a handle large enough to fit any hand.
Glenn Knight, CEO Training 2 CARE Group and Creator of the Dementia Interpreters Course comments, "This is a must have item for anyone that may be worried about a loved ones ability to pour a kettle and therefor are at risk of injury through scolding. Unlike other adapted items, this really would not look out of place in any kitchen and the wonderful design means that people will be proud to display. Having the ability to fill the kettle either on stand or off is the first way to reduce risk and then being able to pour when the water is boiling means that there is a massively reduced risk to people who have dementia, arthritis, hand injury, joint pain or muscle decline. I have to be honest and say that I had not heard of this kettle prior to filming it, but I am so sold that I have purchased one as a present for my mother for Christmas. It is fantastic and I can see why this kettle and tipper is so widely used across Europe".
