Description

This Item is already used heavily across the dementia landscape in the UK and now has a proven track record of being able to communicate time to people that have challenges with sleep and daily/weekly routines.  Designed initially for people with dementia, this item actually crosses over the threshold of every day life.  Having the ability to distinguish instantly whether it is 6 in the morning or 6 in the evening without the need to 'look outside' is so important for people with short term memory loss.  The day/night clock uses a traditional face rather than digital and the reason for this is that many people will identify with this clock face easier, with the simple moon and stars or sun, they can also identify instantly whether it is AM or PM.

Benefits:

Supports orientation to the correct the time of the day

Clear, visual display

We do not recommend using clocks with words in the day/night phase as they are usually partially obscured and can be confusing.

Supports the personal management of a correct, daily routine and helps avoid potentially distressing confusion between day and night time.

Glenn Knight CEO Training 2 CARE Group comments "The ability to reduce anxiety caused by irregular sleep patterns is massively required in the care industry, indeed the disorientation that short term memory gives need to be alleviated.  The day night does this with dignity and respect to ensure that people with short term memory issues do not have to continuously rely on others to identify the time of day."
